PROGRAM SUPERVISOR: Mentor Facilitator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate/2 Year College Degree required; 4-Year College degree preferred
- Experience working with teens/young adults preferred
- Ability to take direction and perform tasks independently
- Ability to use technology to communicate and assess student progress
- Ability to use personal cell phone to communicate with mentees
DUTIES:
- Develop a supportive and professional relationship with assigned mentees.
- Maintain a caseload of 10 mentees at 5 hours of work per week.
- Make at least weekly contact with assigned mentees to include a two-way dynamic conversation (in-person preferred - Google Meet, phone, or email only if student does not attend the in-person site) to discuss attendance, progress in courses, and to set attendance and progress goals and document the contact.
- Frequently discuss target graduation date with mentees and work to remove barriers to academic success.
- Using advisement lessons/topics provided by the Mentor Facilitator and Regional Coordinator, engage in meaningful conversation with mentees around monthly advisement topics and document the contact.
- Once per semester, plan and facilitate parent conferences at the site (in person for in-person sites) using student-led conferencing to guide conversations around expectations, attendance and course progress and document accordingly.
- Serve as a liaison between families and school personnel by being familiar with site processes, upcoming events, and serving as an overall resource to families. Work with the Parent Advisory Committee as needed to connect with parents.
- Once mentee graduates from Foothills, maintain monthly phone or email contact for up to 3 months to support the transition to post- graduation plans and refer to Mentor Facilitator, Career Specialist or Regional Student Services Coordinator as needed for support. Document post-graduation contacts.
- Be familiar with Dual Enrollment (DE), work-based learning and Accelerated Career (Option B) opportunities and make sure mentees receive appropriate information.
- If a concern arises that warrants help with a student's personal situation, mental health or academics, Mentor will consult with the Mentor Facilitator who will make referral to appropriate student services staff or site director.
- Update Contact Log notes in Infinite Campus student database following each communication with a mentee.
- Maintain appropriate student confidentiality and professional relationship that establishes boundaries in a healthy mentor-mentee relationship.
- Have an understanding of the CANVAS learning platform and Infinite Campus Student Database in order to review student data and assess for needs.
- Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Mentor Facilitator or Site Director.
